Lightweight adaptable wheelchair

Springboard were briefed to design an entirely new addition to an existing range of wheelchairs. It was to be of predominantly aluminium construction to reduce weight whilst maintaining a full range of adjustability features.

The chair can be used with a choice of four different wheel sizes and fully folds for transportation.

The seat and backrest slide out for easy cleaning or replacement and there is adjustable seat tension and height, push handle height and footrest positions.

The frame was built around new purpose-designed aluminium extrusions and utilised the companies existing in-house manufacturing capabilities.

This chair is still in production, ten years after it first went on the market.
